Everton's Nearly Men

As the transfer window remains as open as can be, and whilst clubs such as Swansea City, West Ham United, Stoke City and Norwich build upon their squads for their assault on the coming campaign, the board of Everton FC continue to pull down the blinds so that David Moyes can't let anyone climb through it. Its becoming frustrating.  We have a very strong 13 or 14 players, granted, but already we've lost Coleman for the first few games, Arteta's pre-season has been hindered, Osman has felt his hamstring a bit and all of a sudden you find square pegs in round holes, kids on the bench, and Victor Anichebe in the starting XI.

Over the years, the White Sox of Walton have been linked with player after player.  In some cases, we have been a parker pen short of having players on the books before them being snatched from our grasp.  Even Andy Gray had talks to become manager.  That was until Murdoch got his cheque book out and asked our former forward "how much are they offering you Andy? Because I'll quadruple it."

Anyway, I thought I'd take a look at some players who we've almost had the pleasure of watching at Goodison Park, starting with Charles Joseph John Hart (Yup, that's his real  name).

Joe Hart  started his career at Shrewsbury Town in 2003 and was signed by FC Denim of Manchester.  He enjoyed loan spells at Tranmere, Blackpool and more notably Birmingham City.  Hart quickly established himself as England's Number 1 and also played for the Under 19s and Under 21s.  But what's Joe Hart got to do with us? Well, before he joined City, Hart was recommended to David Moyes who duly invited the 6ft5 stopper to Bellfield for a trial.  Shrewsbury said they would want a cash plus player deal, the player being a replacement goalkeeper.  We sent John Ruddy.  Two days later, Ruddy was back at Bellfield and the deal was off.  Why? Because John Ruddy was sh*t!!!

Job seekers invited to expo June 8

(Norwich, NY – June 2011) Morrisville State College is partnering with local agencies to present a career and job expo at the Howard Johnson Hotel on Route 12 in Norwich, June 8. During the expo, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., job seekers can meet with local employers about part-time and full-time positions, summer jobs and internships.

Information on community services including childcare, transportation and other vital services will be available in addition to resources to build job skills.

Participating businesses include; Mohawk Valley Community College, NBT Bank, Catskill Center for Independence, Curtis Lumber, Manpower Group, Agro Farma (a yogurt manufacturing facility located in Chenango County), ACCESS-VR (formerly VESID), Fidelis Care, Morrisville State College, Norwich Aero, Premier Utility Services LLC, Springbrook (an organization serving people with developmental disabilities), Time Warner Cable, Unison and more.

Job seekers are encouraged to bring resumes and to wear interview attire.
