Residents of the East are faced with the continuing effects of Irene, the storm that swept the coast, first as a hurricane and later as a tropical storm. It knocked out power to millions of homes and businesses and killed over 40 people. A look state by state, its impact, according to officials, residents, relief agencies and others:
CONNECTICUT
- Deaths: 2
- Without power: About 284,000 customers on Wednesday, down 770 000.
- Damage: Minor to moderate flooding along the Connecticut River, Housatonic and Farmington, some roads impassable, coastal homes destroyed.

DELAWARE
- Deaths: 2
- Without power supply: 590 as of Wednesday afternoon.
- Damage: State of emergency still in effect, means the state can reopen shelters or to impose restrictions on the movement.

MAINE
