Local entrepreneurs sweeten business in Bayside with two new dessert shops.
All American Yogurt
Newly opened in Pembroke Meadows Shoppes, All American Yogurt's interior is tastefully designed in citrus hues. A gleaming glass-tile back splash, bamboo flooring, and chrome and white seating give it a fresh, inviting feel.
All American Yogurt's manager, Lindsay Leitner, said the owners, all of whom are local, wanted to create an upscale yogurt shop that makes a positive impact in the community.
"This location was chosen, in part, because of the number of elementary schools nearby where we plan to give our support," she said.
The all-American business name reflects their attitude toward family, school and community involvement, Leitner said.
"Even though we aren't painted red, white and blue, that is definitely our attitude here."
She said they will soon begin community and school outreach, with plans to sponsor school nights and student incentives.
The shop features ample dining space for enjoying yogurt treats indoors, with seating for 35 at tables and countertops. Eight dispensers carry a range of Honey Hill yogurts, with offerings that include low-fat, nonfat and sugar-free choices. Flavors are changed throughout the week, and customers can request favorites on Facebook or at an in-store request box.
"Yogurt is a much healthier choice for a sweet craving," said Leitner, adding that the refrigerated topping bar holds freshly prepared fruits such as raspberries, strawberries, mango, pineapple, peaches and more.
Wall dispensers carry 25 selections of cereal, candies and nuts, with additional candies and toppings at the bar, including hot fudge and caramel. Pre-packaged yogurt is also available for quick take-out.
Virginia Beach resident Jordan Hartleben said her experience there has made her a return customer.
"As soon as you walk into the shop, your mood is instantly lifted by the bright colors and welcoming atmosphere," she said.
