Hi Babble readers! Welcome to my first post as a “Being Pregnant” guest blogger. I’m so excited to join the Babble community and share my tried-and-true style tips with you.I’ve been designing maternity wear for more than 14 years and while trends have come and gone, my style philosophy remains the same: expecting moms look better and feel more confident in pieces that are cut closer to the body. Bottom line: I’m all about the fitted maternity silhouette and staying true to your personal sense of style. Remember; when it comes to fashion there are no rules!
As I dish out the dos and don’ts of pregnancy-chic fashion, I’d love to hear what issues are on your mind. Every month I’ll post a short video answering questions that you, my soon-to-be loyal readers (wink!), submit in the comments section of this blog.
Now, on to my first set of tips. Since I’m currently battling New York City’s sticky, sweltering August heat, I thought I’d discuss how you expecting mamas can stay chic, cool and comfortable despite the soaring temperature. Both of my kids were born in the fall, so trust me, I know what it’s like to be pregnant during the hottest months of the year!

Tip 1: When In Doubt, Reach For A Dress
My hands-down favorite item is the dress. Don’t be afraid to go to extremes when it comes to length – whether your personal preference is short or maxi (I love this bright, patterned version from my Target collection), the look is chic, takes you everywhere and keeps you cool. For day, pair your dress with flip-flops or ballet flats and at night, step into an espadrille or low wedge.
Tip 2: Have Fun With Swimwear
Whether you’re by the pool, lake or beach, it’s okay to show some skin and show off your growing bump. For an easy, stylish cover-up this season, try tying a sarong above or below your bump. This is the one place where it is ok to show off bare belly skin, so look good doing it!
